Old Town Lewisville World Tamale Eating Championship

Location: Lewisville, TX
Date: 09-27-2008
Winner: Pat Vandam

On September 27, some of the world's finest Major League Eaters will converge on the town of Lewisville, TX for the 4th Annual Old Town Lewisville World Tamale Eating Championship. This contest is held in conjunction with the Western Day Festival, an ever-popular event that features live music, trick ropers, and gunfight re-enactments. The real fights will happen at the competition table, where brave gurgitators battle it out for the coveted title of tamale champion. Cowboy hats are optional.

In 2007, Eater X ate 71 tamales in 12 minutes to set a new Lewisville and World record. He was followed by Rich "the Locust" LeFevre with 51. This year, the competition tamales will once again be provided by the Dallas Tortilla and Tamale Factory, which proved to be speedy and palatable for these athletes.

Registration for this event is now closed.

All eaters must be at least 18.
