Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti continued his torrid pace with his 5th win of the 2009 season after downing 6.625 pounds of fried calamari in 10 minutes at Mallie's Sports Grill Saturday afternoon. The mark set a record for the calamari discipline as this contest was the first officially sanctioned bout with the fried food.

In second w/6.3125 pounds was "Humble" Bob Shoudt. Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas was a close third with 6.125 pounds and Crazy Legs Conti rounded out the money winners with 3.4375 pounds.

The energy was palpable inside the popular Southgate, MI sports bar as the World Calamari Eating Championship was part of the Guinness Burger Weekend festivities.
