Joey Chestnut won his second world eating championship in as many weekends on Saturday when he ate 42 bratwursts in 10 minutes to become the Pepto World Bratwurst Eating World Champion.
The event, which took place at the Oktoberfest Zinzinnati celebration in Cincy, was held before a capacity crowd on the festivals main stage. Chestnut was trailing for more than half of the contest to Gravy Brown who was draped in lederhosen to channel the Oktoberfest spirits. Gravy hit a wall at minute 6 though and Chestnut surged ahead to win convincingly 42-31.75. After the contest Chestnut downed a recommended size dosage of Pepto-Bismol on-stage, in what has become a familiar scene on the MLE circuit.
Juliet Lee came in third place after eating 23.5 brats and rookie newcomer Aaron Osthoff stunned the crowd in his debut contest eating 20 brats to finish in fourth place and win $250.
Ben "the Hungry Wolf" Taylor and David "Hurricane" Solomon finished ate 18 and 18.5, respectively to finish in 5th and 6th places.
The win marks the second in as many weekends for Chestnut who ate 47 burritos the Saturday before to become Burrito Eating Champion of the World.
