Niko Niko's World Gyro-Eating Championship

On Sunday, May 15th the Niko Niko's World Gyro-Eating Championship will return to the Festival of Greece in Houston, TX. A $4,000 cash purse will be put up with the winner taking home a cool $2,000.

This contest has seen the best of the best at the table over since its inception in 2008. Last year, #1-ranked Joey Chestnut avenged a second place finish to #2-ranked Pat Bertoletti from 2008. Bertoletti won the first two events in both '08 and '09. Chestnut and Bertoletti share the world record of 21 gyros in 10 minutes. Records, however, are made to be broken. Will it fall this year??

This contest will take place at 2:00 pm at the Festival of Greece, 1100 Eldridge Parkway, Houston, TX 77077.

About the Festival of Greece The World Gyro Eating Championship is part of Houston’s Annual Festival of Greece. Dimitri Fetokakis and his family have been long time supporters of the festival. The Festival of Greece, now celebrating its 16th anniversary, is a four-day event that features fine homemade Greek food & deserts, Greek wine & beer, Greek folk dancing, Greek shops, vendor booths, children's food, and a large children’s play area.
