CHESTNUT SETS NEW PORK ROLL SANDWICH-EATING RECORD!

Joey Chestnut ate a World Record 43 Case's Pork Roll sandwiches in 10 minutes at the 2016 installment of The Trenton Thunder World Famous Case's Pork Roll Eating Championship. In doing so, he bested his 2015 mark of 32 by a staggering 34 percent. His achievement is significant; Major League Eating congratulates Joey on beating his former self.

In 2015, Major League Eaters faced the mighty NJ-style Pork Roll in sanctioned competition for the first time. It was a true cultural experience, one born of a hungry curiosity. Their response to the World Famous Case's Pork Roll sandwich? Bring us more. Many, many more. Please. And the numbers consumed at the 2016 event are tribute to the fact. Chestnut's haul of 43 was no doubt in answer to Carmen Cincotti's total of 40 Case's Pork Roll sandwiches in 10 minutes. There is no event at which Chestnut or world #2 Matt Stonie can attend and win without giving 100 percent effort with Cincotti lurking to their left or right depending on the table lineup. Geoffrey Esper continued his impressive 2016 with 31Case's Pork Roll sandwiches in 10 minutes. Gideon Oji's plane was delayed and he missed the event, which was a bummer. The discipline would suit his skill set. Others ate less but they should feel no shame. All did their part.

But today Chestnut was on his game and he prevailed. Next year, he will no doubt face an elite field of MLE's finest, each of whom wants what he's got—bragging rights as the 2017 World Famous Case's Pork Roll Eating Champion of the World. See you back in Trenton next year.
