Jarvis Wins Pizza-Eating Title at NJ Tomato Fest

08-21-2005

Ed Cookie Jarvis continues to impress in the second half of 2005 with a win in the Pizza Contest at the New Jersey Tomato Festival. Jarvis downed two full pies and two generous bites to win a modest prize of $500.

Jarvis was followed by Bob Shoudt, once known as the Peisastratus of Pie, who consumed one and two thirds pies. (The large NYPD Pizza pies were cut into six slices. Shoudt consumed one full pizza and just under four slices.)

NJ fans flocked to be near Pat from Moonachie, who placed third with one and one half pies, or one pie and three slices. Pat was introduced amid a frenzied dance number featuring more than a dozen professional dancers.

Also performing well were BB Seiken and newcomer Lou Chimento. Thousands attended the 2005 New Jersey Tomato Festival at the Camden Waterfront overlooking the Battleship New Jersey and the Philadelphia skyline.

In the crowd was Philly/Southern Jersey champion El Wingador Simmons, who beat Sonya Thomas at the WIP Wingbowl last winter in a controversial and highly dramatic match. Simmons will soon open a restaurant only minutes from the Camden Waterfront.
