Janus Repeats in Hartford

05-22-2006

Eater X took his second straight Nathan's Famous qualifier in Connecticut this past weekend by downing a personal best 27.5 HDBs. While X was the favored eater going into the event, he was pushed by Pat Philbin who placed second with 25. Mike LeMay and Ryan McBride performed well, but third place went to newcomer Russ Keeler with 16.

A few Glutton Bowl Alumni were on hand for the contest including Krazy Kevin Lipsitz, William Black Tie Stobierski and Don Moses Lerman. Just before the competition Stobierski danced to Elvis Presley's Hound Dog. His moves energized the crowd and may have encouraged the skies to open.

"The minute Stobierski stopped dancing I felt a rain drop," said Janus. "Then it poured, which actually helped with the buns a bit."

Janus will join Joey Chestnut, Crazy Legs and Kobayashi in Coney on July 4th.
