Commissioner.s Volunteer Day at the Food Bank

11-25-2003

IFOCE eaters will focus their energy on sorting rather than eating on December 20 as the IFOCE holds the Commissioner.s Volunteer Day at the Monmouth and Ocean County Food Bank in New Jersey.

Eaters will converge on the Monmouth and Ocean County Food Bank, located at 3300 Route 66 in Neptune Township, NJ, at 11 am on Saturday, December 20 to sort donated food for distribution during the holidays. The event is organized by IFOCE Commissioner Mike Devito, former world champion hot dog eater.

While only 10 food bank volunteers can sort at any given time, 20 IFOCE volunteers are expected. As a result, sorters on break will be free to play football, discuss new IFOCE records and . well . eat. Charles Hardy will be manning the grill in the parking lot. However, no competitive eating will take place. Social eating only.

Last year, Cookie Jarvis led a holiday toy and food drive for one of New York City.s largest soup kitchens. This year.s Commissioner.s Volunteer Day provides the opportunity for IFOCE members to collect food for donation. For more information call the IFOCE at (212) 352-8651, and to learn more about the food bank and donating food, visit:
