MLE 1, 2, 3 at Wing Bowl 15

02-02-2007

Major League Eaters invaded Philly once again for the fanatical bacchanalia that is WIP’s Wing Bowl.

While some big names – Bob Shoudt, Chip Simpson and Rich LeFevre – fell out after a controversial first round, MLE took the event win, place and show.

For the second year in a row, Joey Chestnut won and was credited with 182 wings. Bertoletti took second place and Sonya Thomas placed third. Thanks to the powerful promotional skills of Angelo Cataldi, more than 20,000 competitive eating fans packed the Wachovia Center for the event, which began at 7am this morning.

The win provided Chestnut with a Suzuki Grand Vitara courtesy of Blatt Dealerships. This is the second car Chestnut has won in 13 months. He is undefeated in 2007.

El Wingador pledged to Philadelphia eating fans that he’d make a triumphant return to the sport that he loves in 2008.
