Sweet Corn Purse Gets a Little Sweeter

The prize purse for the National Sweet Corn Eating Championship at Sweet Corn Fiesta in West Palm Beach, FL has been officially increased from $2,250 to $3,500. The top three finishers in the highly technical 12-minute sweet corn eating contest will realize a hefty bump from the new payouts:

1st - $2,000 2nd - $1,000 3rd - $500

Jammin' Joe LaRue has vowed to regain the title, but he'll have to fend off '07 Champ Crazy Legs Conti who is scheduled to arrive - via a 7-leg flight patter - at the Sweet Corn Fiesta just minutes prior to the contest. Conti will be in the Deep-Fried Asparagus Eating Championship in Stockton, CA a mere 24 hours before the National Sweet Corn Eating Championship begins.
