Jarvis Sails to Third Boston Title

05-17-2004

Ed "Cookie" Jarvis took his third straight Boston Hot Dog Eating Title by downing 24 Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs and Buns to qualify for a spot in the Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island on July 4, 2004. Rookie Allan Goldstein ripped through an impressive 16 to secure second place and establish himself as a contender in the race for spots in the July 4 event.

The Nathan's qualifier took place, as it has for four years, during Eddie Andelman's Hot Dog Safari at Suffolk Downs. The Safari raises money to fight Cystic Fibrosis and aired live on the WB.

Jarvis' pal LeFevre, who ate 25 in Los Angeles, is also in the big contest on July 4. The next stop on the circuit is Hartford, Connecticut on May 22, then Las Vegas on May 27 followed by Philadelphia and Belmont over Memorial Day Weekend. More info at www.nathansfamous.com.
